May 2015 – Birchbox

This month’s box theme was “Cupcakes and Cashmere,” which is a blog! If you would like to check out the blog click HERE!

The design of the box this month was not my favorite, however, I enjoyed the products I received this month!

imageCoastal Scents Revealed Three Palette
Full Size in the Bag? – No
Trial Size Value – $4.00
Full Size Retail – $19.99
What the website says: “They say good things come in threes—and now that we tried the latest palette from Coastal Scents®, a follow-up to the brand’s popular Revealed and Revealed 2, we’re inclined to agree. It has 20 shadows in a variety of new shades—from palest pink to rich goldenrod, vivid plum to deep brown—with a mix of matte, satin, and shimmery finishes. The smooth, powdered shadows glide on and blend easily.
My thoughts: I have received a small quad sample like this before from Coastal Scents. I enjoy the color samples from the Revealed 3 palette although they are more fall colors.

imageJurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum
Full Size in the Bag? – No
Trial Size Value – $10.00
Full Size Retail – $56.00
What the website says: “Sometimes we wish we could channel a certain cartoon detective and with a simple “go, go gadget youth,” our skin would get an instant radiant boost. Seeing as that’s more fictional than functional, we’ll turn to this active antioxidant serum, which specifically targets visible signs of aging. Featuring a proprietary active complex, Naturadiance PB18+, this twice-daily regimen reduces the appearance of fine lines, helps increase elasticity and increases hydration, while antioxidants create a natural defense shield to help protect against environmental aggressors, for visibly glowing, younger-looking skin.
My thoughts: Since this is an anti-aging serum, I don’t know how effective it will be on my skin.

imageMacadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment
Full Size in the Bag? – No
Trial Size Value – $10.00
Full Size Retail – $40.00
What the website says: “We’ve found that it’s the little everyday luxuries that make a difference: a glass of wine at the end of a long day, a sheet thread count to render those sheep unnecessary, and, our latest discovery, a nourishing oil to treat our hair, day in and day out. This hair oil uses vitamin E to deeply hydrate and macadamia and argan oils, which are rich in fatty acids, to add softness and shine. Even better, it does so without sulfates, gluten, or parabens.
My thoughts: I LOVE this brand! The oil is nice to have. I have color treated hair and find that my ends can appear dry or frizzy. I like to put a small amount in my fingers and run it through my ends. It doesn’t leave my hair looking greasy and weighed down, but gives a nice shine to my hair!

imageBenefit Total Moisture Facial Cream
Full Size in the Bag? – No
Trial Size Value – $8.00
Full Size Retail – $42.00
What the website says: “Give your vanity a makeover with these cork-and-glass jars. Plus, what’s inside is even better. The rich, super moisturizing face cream—ideal for normal-to-dry skin—uses a unique tri-radiance complex to defeat dryness and give you a bright, glowing complexion. Mango butter emollients and proven hydrators like glycerin quench your skin and absorb fully into skin for a smooth finish.
My thoughts: I have loved every Benefit product I have tried. I am excited to try a skin care product from this line. I am always looking for an effective facial moisturizer that doesn’t leave my face overly greasy – as I suffer from an extremely oily t-zone!

imageHarvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist
Full Size in the Bag? – No
Trial Size Value – $5.00
Full Size Retail – $22.00
What the website says: “Getting beachy waves is as breezy as, well, a day at the beach with this salt-infused spray. It gives hair instant volume and lift for textured, piecey waves that look like you just got back from the shore (minus the tan lines and impossible-to-wash-off sand). What’s more, this formula is cruelty-free, vegan, and free of parabens and sulfates.
My thoughts: I have only received Harvey Prince perfume samples. I don’t normally like sea salt sprays – but this one seems like it will be less heavy so I will give it a try!
